Day 1 Arrive Auckland
On arrival into Auckland collect your vehicle at the airport and make your way to the hotel.
Day 2 Auckland - Waitomo - Hobbiton - Rotorua
Travel south of Auckland to Rotorua via the famous Waitomo Caves where a guided tour with a boat trip through the glow-worm grotto is included. Then head across to Matamata to join your Hobbiton Movie Set Tour. Experience the real Middle Earth on picturesque rural famrland, before arriving in Rotorua.
Day 3 Rotorua Sightseeing
Four major attractions are included with your Rotorua sightseeing. Begin with a visit to Te Puia Thermal Reserve where you will see boiling mud pools and steaming geysers, before heading to Rainbow Springs for a chance to learn about New Zealand’s native bush and maybe see our native bird – the Kiwi. A visit to Rotorua is not complete without experiencing the Agrodome to learn about our farming heritage with an entertaining farm show and finally we include a Gondola pass to Skyline Rotorua to enjoy the wide vistas and maybe ride the Luge (optional extra).
This evening enjoy a Maori Hangi (feast) and Cultural Performance at the Tamaki Maori Village.
Day 4 Rotorua - Napier
Today will go via Taupo. Enjoy picturesque views of Lake Taupo, the Southern Hemisphere's largest lake. The journey continues southward over majestic hills finally descending into the city of Napier.
Day 5 Napier at Leisure
With an abundance of activities available to choose from today, a few suggestions may include a guided Art Deco Walk or visit some of Hawke's Bays' magnificent wineries or visit the famous Gannet Colony at Cape Kidnappers. Pre booking is recommended.
Day 6 Napier - Wellington
Continue towards the lower North Island to Wellington, New Zealand's capital city. Today the journey will pass through some of New Zealand's most substantial agricultural farmland. Wellington is set on a magnificent harbour ringed by hills. Enjoy views from the top of the Cable Car, visit Te Papa Tongarewa the spectacular national museum, visit Parliament Buildings and see the unique 'Beehive'. NB: The option to return to Auckland today direct from Napier is also available at no additional cost.
Day 7 Depart Wellington
Return your rental car to the airport prior to departure.
