On arrival into Auckland collect your vehicle at the airport and make your own way to your hotel.
Day 2 Auckland – Bay of Islands
Travel North across the Auckland Harbour Bridge and via the Hibiscus Coast to the beautiful Bay of Islands arriving in Paihia in time for a visit to the Waitangi Treaty Grounds – the birth place of New Zealand. This afternoon enjoy a cruise through the dazzling waters of the Bay with 144 islands. You will have a chance to navigate through the ‘Hole in the Rock’. Following the cruise head to your hotel for a 2 night stay.
Day 3 Bay of Islands at Leisure
Today is free to explore the beautiful Bay of Islands at your own pace. We recommend a day trip with Great Sights to the very top of New Zealand, Cape Reinga. You will enjoy a full commentary on the coach which will take you to an ancient Kauri forest, sand boarding on massive sand dunes with the highlight of the day being a drive along 90 Mile Beach. It is best to prebook this day trip before you arrive in New Zealand.
Alternatively a short drive will take you to historic Kerikeri – site of the ‘Stone Store’ one of New Zealands oldest buildings, or you may decide to take a short ferry ride to Russell, the location of New Zealand’s first Government.
Day 4 Bay Of Islands – Auckland
Explore Paihia at your leisure this morning. Then it is a direct drive back to Auckland where your journey will conclude by returning your vehicle to the rental car depot.
